Tori and Uke are facing each other. Uke steps forward on his right foot. He tries to slash the knife (used as a short sword) from above towards Tori's head (as in the Idori section). Uke catches the blow (fig. 2) and applies an Ude hishigi waki gatame (fig. 3). Uke taps with his left hand against Tori's left leg.
Tori and Uke return to their positions. Uke moves the knife to inside the jacket as in the Idori section. Uke walks back to put his knife back on the mat.
