Ushiro-dori (Seizure from behind)
After Yoko uchi, Uke sits down in front of Tori, but at a longer distance. If Uke sits too close to Tori, he will have a bad position when he rises up. Uke rises to his feet. Then he walks around Tori (not between Tori and Shômen). Uke sits down behind Tori. First, he sits 40 cm behind Tori. Then he moves forward to a distance of 20 cm behind Tori (fig 1). Uke goes up on his right foot outside Tori's right side. He grips around Tori's arms (fig. 2). Tori moves his arms to his sides. He goes up and moves his right leg backwards, under Uke's right leg. Tori grabs high up, at Uke's left shoulder, with both his hands. It's like a left Ippon seoi nage. Tori turns to the right and throws Uke around with a left "Seoi makikomi" (fig. 3). The throw is made sideways, like in makikomi. It is not made over the shoulder, like in seoi nage. Tori releases his right arm while rolling. After the throw, Tori immediately squeezes Uke's body between his right leg and his right arm. The position is similar to Ushiro kesa gatame. If Tori failes to press his right arm against Uke's body, Uke can continue rolling and he will escape. Tori strikes at "Uke's parts" with his left fist (fig. 4). After the technique is finished, Tori and Uke return to the positions they had at the beginning of this technique. Tori sits on his place. Uke sits behind him. Uke then stands up. He walks back to the position he came from and sits down in front of Tori (longer distance than usual). Uke stands up again. He turns around and walks towards his weapons.
