Yoko-uchi (Side blow at left temple)
Uke rises on his toes. He shouts and tries to strike Tori's left
temple with his right fist (fig. 1). Uke's strike is made with the
little finger side of his fist.
Tori does 4 things simultaneously (fig. 2):
- He moves his head to the left, under Uke's striking arm.
- He moves his right arm, left of Uke's head and over Uke's left shoulder.
- He rises on his toes and moves his right foot to the outside of Uke's right knee.
- He puts his left palm on Uke's back, above the belt.
Tori pushes Uke so that Uke falls almost straight backwards. Uke should
not fall too much to the side. Tori holds Uke down like in Kata-gatame
(fig 3).
He then releases the hold with his right arm. Tori controls Uke's right
upper arm with his own left hand. Tori lifts his right arm in the air,
shouts and strikes Uke's solar plexus with his right elbow. His right
hand is open with the fingers pointing upwards (fig. 4).
Note: Figure 3 and 4 is from a different angle.
